IEC 61000-3-2 Ed5.0 2018 Harmonic Current Interference Fifth Edition Specification Released
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) TC 77/SC77A technical branch released the fifth edition of the harmonic current interference standard IEC 61000-3-2:2018. The new standard is released on 2018-01-26, which replaces the existing fourth edition IEC 61000- 3-2: 2014 "Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)-Part 3-2: Limits-Limits for harmonic current emissions (equipment input current ≤ 16 A per phase)", the latest EU version EN 61000-3-2:2018 is in progress , The expected announcement (DOA) date is 2018-06-02, and the expected date to replace the previous version is 2021-03-02.
The main change of the new version of the standard is that the requirements for lighting equipment are quite different. Therefore, manufacturers of lamps and lighting products need to pay attention to the latest changes in this standard. This standard is applicable to those connected to the public power system with a rated input current of no more than 16A per phase. Equipment, compared with IEC 61000-3-2:2014, the main technical changes in the standard are as follows:
a) Update the emission limit of lighting equipment with rated power ≤25W to take into account new lighting equipment;
b) Increase the 5W boundary, and there is no emission limit for lighting equipment less than 5W;
c) Modification of the requirements for dimmers used by non-incandescent lamps;
d) Increase the test conditions of digital dimming technology (DLT) transmission control devices;
e) Cancel the use of reference lamps and reference ballasts for lighting equipment testing;
f) Simplify and explain the terms used in lighting equipment;
g) Classify professional lamps for stage lighting and studio use into Class A;
h) State the classification of emergency lighting equipment;
i) The description of the lighting equipment containing a control module with input power ≤ 2W;
j) Update the test conditions of the TV receiver
k) Update the test conditions of the induction cooker and add consideration to other types of cooking appliances
l) In order to be consistent with IEC 61000-3-12, the scope of IEC 61000-3-2 is changed from equipment with input current ≤ 16A to equipment with rated input current ≤ 16A.
In the new version of the standard, the lighting equipment with rated power 5W≤P≤25W (such as LED control devices and lamps, etc.) needs to be tested, covering a very wide range of product categories, such as low-power LED lighting products, including: LED desk lamps, LED bulbs, LEDs Dimming night lights need to be tested.
