India Compulsory Registration Scheme Implementation Extended to January 2014
On September 30, 2013 the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) issued notification “Implementation of Electronics and IT Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2012″, which extends the compulsory registration date to January 3, 2014 for regulated products already submitted for testing to the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) recognized laboratories. The previous extension date was October 3, 2013 based on DeitY Circular No. 3 of 2013 – “Extension in date of coming into effect of the “Electronics and IT Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2012″ for Goods under testing with BIS Recognized Labs” issued on August 23, 2013.
The main changes under the latest extension notification include the following:
- Manufacturers who were granted an extension by DeitY before October 3, 2013 will not be subject to an extension fee.
- Products submitted for testing to BIS accredited laboratories after October 3, 2013, will be levied a fee on a per month basis after this date.
- To obtain an extension for submitted products, the self-declaration by the manufacturer must include test reports issued by BIS accredited laboratories.
