20130128 Safety Information
The end of 2012, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) "Energy Star Partner Conference held
in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA, meeting the description and discussion of related products Energy Star
specification. The following are the main points of discussion in the meeting:
1.The new requirements. Adjustable light compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) and LED lights.
The meeting focused on a fluorescent and LED lights dimmer. EPA to encourage consumers to use compact
fluorescent lamps (CFL) and LED lights to save energy, but its connection dimmer used, the performance is
often not satisfactory. Some tune light CFL and LED bulbs to flicker, noise, adjustable light of the limited
scope of the phenomenon. Therefore, consumers are disappointed and converted to the use of incandescent
bulbs. To this end, EPA is establishing a working group to establish the basic requirements of the Energy
Star for all dimmable lamp / bulb lights. Requirements will include the following aspects:Flicker/Dimming
levels/Noise Level. The test method is based on the NEMA and the recommendations of the LRC (Lighting
Research Center). EPA is also considering the proposed increase in building codes dimmer for dimmable
compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) and LED bulbs.
2.Lamps product certification updates
Meanwhile, the lighting product certification is also part of the new standard is ready to be introduced,
including:
LM-84: measuring LED lights drive combination and the lamp lumen maintenance and chroma degrees.
LM-85: measurement of high-power LED light electrical and photometric.
TM-26: estimate the service life of the LED lamp beads.
TM-28: LM-84 data to estimate long LED brightness maintenance.
3.Types of consumer electronics product certification expand
For consumer electronics products, EPA intends in 2013 to expand its certification types, including the
following new product category:
Small network equipment/Room temperature control system/IP Telephony/Game consoles.
4.Energy efficiency specifications amendments
Energy efficiency specification of the following products will be updated in 2013:
Set-top boxes/Battery charging systems/TV.
